The Skin Specialist Advanced Package is designed for therapists who are ready to advance their skin knowledge with more results-driven treatments. Instead of booking separate courses one at a time, it brings the knowledge and the treatments together in a single three-day programme.
It is listed as an intermediate package. It includes Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology, so the science behind the treatments is part of the same programme as the treatments themselves, together with dermaplaning, chemical peels and microneedling, and the consultation, planning and complication-management skills that sit around them.
Who this course is for
- Therapists ready to move from basic facials into more results-driven skin treatments.
- Learners who want anatomy, treatments and the thinking around them in one programme rather than as separate bookings.
- Therapists who already know they want dermaplaning, chemical peels and microneedling, since the package includes all three.
What is in the package
The package includes Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology, Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels and Microneedling. Alongside those it includes Advanced Consultations, Treatment Planning, Complication Management and Business Support, and it finishes with accredited certification.
Each of the four treatment courses is also available on its own, and each has its own page with more detail. They are linked at the bottom of this page, so you can read what each one covers before you decide.
The four courses inside it
Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology covers the anatomy and function of the major body systems, skin anatomy and the ageing process, cells and tissues, and infection prevention and control, and it ends with a knowledge assessment. It is the groundwork for everything else in the package.
Dermaplaning is the technique from theory to practice, including contraindications, aftercare and treatment protocols. Chemical Peels covers peel types and strengths, skin preparation, application and post-treatment care, with a practical on a live model.
Microneedling covers needle depths and treatment techniques, protocols for different skin concerns, safe operation of the device and serum selection, along with consultation, skin assessment and aftercare. Between them, the four give you a set of treatments that build on the same understanding of the skin.
More than the treatments
Three of the things in the package are not treatments at all: advanced consultations, treatment planning and complication management. They are the parts that decide how safe and how successful a treatment is. Knowing how to assess a client properly, how to plan a course of treatment and what to do if something does not go as expected is what makes a practitioner someone clients can rely on, rather than someone who has simply learned a technique.
Business Support is included as well.
Where it sits in the academy range
The academy runs two skin specialist programmes, and they are pitched at different people. The Skin Specialist Starter Package is the beginner programme, built around a foundation in treatments such as facials, hydrodermabrasion, microdermabrasion and LED light therapy. The Advanced Package is the next step up, for therapists who already have that grounding, or something equivalent, and want to move into more results-driven work.
If you are new to skin treatments altogether, the Starter Package is the natural place to begin. If you are already working with clients and are looking at the next level, this is the programme to look at, and Kim can help you decide which one matches where you are today.
Package or single courses?
If you only want one of the treatments, the single course is the simpler choice. If you want the wider set, compare the package price shown above with the single course prices before you book. Kim can talk you through which suits where you are, and it is worth asking before you commit to a date.
Intending to treat clients afterwards? Ask your insurer what they want to see from a three-day programme before you book, because they decide what your cover requires.
Common questions
How many days does the package run for?
Three days, at the academy in Ossett.
What is included?
Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology, Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels, Microneedling, Advanced Consultations, Treatment Planning, Complication Management, Business Support and accredited certification.
Can I book the treatments separately?
Yes. Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology, Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels and Microneedling are each available as single courses.
Is the package suitable for a beginner?
It is listed at intermediate level, so it assumes you are ready to go beyond the basics. Not sure? Ask Kim before you book.
How is it different from the Skin Specialist Starter Package?
The Starter Package is listed as a beginner programme and covers a different set of treatments, including Basic Facial, Hydrodermabrasion, Microdermabrasion and LED Light Therapy. The Advanced Package is listed as intermediate and covers dermaplaning, chemical peels and microneedling. Both include Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology. If you are not sure which is right for you, ask Kim.
Is the certificate the same as insurance?
No. It shows that you completed the programme. Cover for treating clients is arranged separately with an insurer, who will tell you what they need to see.
